05FAQ

Common questions.

Can you cut a key without my vehicle?

For standard mechanical keys, yes — bring the existing key. For transponder keys (chip-encoded), the vehicle has to be at the shop because we have to pair the chip to the immobilizer.

What about luxury vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Audi)?

For lockouts, yes. For key programming, we don't handle most European luxury — those typically require dealer-level diagnostic tools. We'll tell you up front and refer you.

How long does transponder programming take?

Most jobs are 30–60 minutes once the vehicle is in the shop. We carry blanks for the most common makes/models. Rare/older models may need a 2–5 day blank order.

Will programming a new key disable my old keys?

On most modern vehicles, no — both old and new keys remain valid. On older systems, some require erasing all existing keys first. We'll confirm before starting.
